Veronica — 14 species
Veronica (speedwell) is a large genus of flowering perennials and aquatics prized for their slender spikes of blue, purple, pink, or white flowers, including garden favourites such as Veronica longifolia 'Blauriesin', spiked speedwell, and the wetland species Veronica beccabunga. Most garden Veronicas thrive in full sun and well-drained soil, watered moderately and allowed to dry slightly between sessions. Aquatic species like beccabunga tolerate consistently wet conditions. Toxicity varies across the genus — check each individual species before buying if you share your home with cats or dogs.
