Epidendrum is a vast New World orchid genus whose reed-stem types — including Epidendrum ibaguense and Epidendrum secundum — are among the most beginner-friendly orchids available. They thrive in bright light, tolerating some direct sun comparable to cattleya conditions, and appreciate thorough watering every five to seven days during active growth, easing off slightly in winter as the mix dries more between sessions.
