What Plant Apps Actually Cost in 2026 — 9 Verified

Plant app pricing is unusually hard to pin down, and not by accident. Most apps publish several subscription products at once — weekly, monthly, annual, lifetime, plus promotional tiers — so the "price" depends entirely on which one the paywall happens to show you. Search for what an app costs and you will find figures that are a year old, or a different country's, or somebody's guess.

So this page does something dull and useful: it lists what each app's own App Store entry says, with the date it was checked.

What each app costs

Greg and Plantum publish several products without labelling which is the standard annual plan, so those rows give the published range. Anyone quoting a single figure for either is guessing.

The three things worth knowing before you subscribe

Weekly plans are the expensive ones

Several apps lead with a weekly price because it looks small. PlantIn lists weekly tiers from $6.99 to $17.99; Blossom lists $7.99 a week. At $7.99 weekly you pay $415 a year for an app whose annual plan is $59.99. If a paywall offers you a weekly plan, look for the annual toggle before agreeing.

"Free" usually means free to download

Almost every app in this list is free to install and gates the features people actually want. That is normal, and it is worth knowing which features sit behind the wall before you commit — for most of these apps, photo identification and disease diagnosis are the paid part.

Two real exceptions: PlantNet has no in-app purchases whatsoever, and RHS Grow has a genuinely usable free tier because the Royal Horticultural Society funds it as a member benefit.

Prices are set per country

Apple sets store prices per territory, so a US figure will not match a UK one and neither may match yours. PictureThis is $39.99 in the US and £34.99 in the UK — not a conversion, a separate price. Check your own store before assuming.

Where Growli sits, honestly

Growli Plus is £34.99 a year in the UK and $44.99 in the US. In the UK that is exactly level with PictureThis Pro. In the US it is five dollars more.

We are not the cheapest plant app, and this page would be worth less if it pretended otherwise. Only Blossom is more expensive.

If price is the deciding factor, PlantNet is free and excellent at identification, and RHS Grow's free tier is the best no-cost option for UK gardeners. Those are honest answers and we would rather give them than have you pay for something that does not fit.

Each price was read from the app's App Store listing on 27–28 July 2026, US and GB storefronts. RHS Grow's was verified against the RHS site on 20 July 2026. Where a listing publishes several products without naming the annual one, the range is given rather than a chosen figure.

Prices change, and app pricing changes more than most. If you are reading this much later than July 2026, treat it as a starting point and check the store.
