After harvest in late summer; final tying-in of new canes by early autumn. Wear heavy gloves. Cut all fruited canes at ground level. Select 5–8 new canes, fan them along wires, and tie at intervals. Remove all remaining weak or surplus primocanes. Tip canes at wire height if they are very long. Mulch the base after pruning.
