Remove spent flowers if desired (early to mid spring); allow foliage to die back naturally before clearing (late spring). Gently pull or pinch off faded flowers. Leave all leaves strictly alone until they are completely yellow and come away without pulling.

Annually, or leave naturalized and undisturbed. Crocus 'Pickwick' needs almost no pruning. You can remove spent striped blooms for tidiness, but it is not essential. The thin grassy foliage must be left to die back naturally over 4–6 weeks after flowering — it is feeding the corm for next year. Cutting it early is the most common reason crocuses fail to rebloom.
