How to prune begonia 'torch'

Early spring for hard pruning; growing season for tip-pinching and deadheading. Cut bare or exhausted canes to 15–20 cm from the base in spring. Pinch growing tips 2–3 cm above a node throughout the active season to stimulate lateral branching and additional flower clusters.

Hard prune annually if needed; tip-pinch and deadhead monthly through spring and summer. Begonia 'Torch' is a cane-type begonia with pendulous coral-orange flower clusters. Like other cane begonias it can grow tall and leggy without pruning. Pinch stem tips to promote branching and more flower nodes. Cut old bare canes back to 15–20 cm in early spring. Remove spent flower stalks regularly.
