How to prune beetroot 'boltardy'

Thin seedlings 3–4 weeks after sowing; remove bolt stalks if they appear. Snip surplus seedlings at soil level during thinning rather than pulling. If a flower stalk appears, cut it flush at the base promptly. For greens, remove only the outermost 1–2 leaves per plant at a time.

Thinning: once. Bolt stalk removal: as needed (rarely required for this variety). Beetroot 'Boltardy' needs no pruning. Its bolt-resistant breeding means flower stalk removal is rarely needed, but if bolting does occur, cut the stalk at the base immediately. Thin seedlings early for root development. Beet greens can be lightly harvested without harming the root, but avoid over-stripping the plant.
