Pulmonaria — 7 species

Pulmonaria (lungwort) is a low-growing shade perennial prized for its silver-spotted foliage and early spring flowers in shades of pink, blue, and violet — cultivars such as 'Trevi Fountain' and 'Raspberry Splash' deliver strong seasonal colour. It performs best in partial to full shade with evenly moist, humus-rich soil; it struggles in dry conditions and will scorch in full sun. All Pulmonaria species are toxic to cats and dogs due to pyrrolizidine alkaloids and saponins.
