Passiflora — 19 species
Passionflowers are vigorous, fast-climbing vines prized for their exotic, intricately structured blooms and, in species such as Water lemon and Banana passionfruit, edible fruit. They demand abundant bright light — at least six hours of direct sun daily — and consistently moist soil; allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Most are best grown outdoors or in a very sunny conservatory. All Passiflora species are toxic to cats and dogs, so keep these vines well out of reach of pets.
