Lithops — 23 species
Lithops, commonly known as living stones, are stone-mimicking succulents native to the arid regions of southern Africa. Species such as Dorothy's Living Stones and Tawny Living Stones are built for intense light — aim for four to five hours of direct sun daily, ideally on a south-facing windowsill. Water extremely sparingly: once or twice a month at most outside of dormancy, and not at all while the plant is splitting its old leaves to produce a new pair. Lithops are non-toxic to cats and dogs, per ASPCA.
