Jasminum — 13 species
Jasminum is a genus of climbing and shrubby plants celebrated for their intensely fragrant, star-shaped flowers, spanning species such as Spanish jasmine, Italian jasmine, Parker's jasmine, and Wild jasmine. Most thrive in full sun to bright partial shade and prefer evenly moist, well-drained soil — water when the top inch dries, reducing in winter. Toxicity varies across the genus: check each species individually before buying. Some are listed as non-toxic by the ASPCA, while several plants commonly sold under "jasmine" names belong to different genera and can be harmful to cats and dogs.
