Hoya deykeae is a slow-growing evergreen epiphytic or lithophytic vine native to the tropical rainforests of Sumatra, named in honour of Mrs Deyke van Donkelaar. It is prized by collectors for its attractive heart-shaped leaves and pendant umbels of 15–30 small, waxy flowers. Allow the soil to approach dryness between waterings — this species is particularly sensitive to wet conditions that cause rapid yellowing and root rot.
