What's eating my zomicarpella amazonica?

Zomicarpella amazonica is a miniature Amazonian aroid cultivated indoors by collectors. As with most small tropical aroids, spider mites are the primary threat, especially in low-humidity conditions. Mealybugs can colonise the tight leaf sheaths. Given its rarity, early detection and isolation of any infested plant is critical.

Tiny pale dots on leaf surfaces and webbing beneath; leaves may curl and dry at the edges. Boost humidity with a pebble tray or humidifier; spray undersides thoroughly with insecticidal soap every 5–7 days.

Cottony white patches tucked into leaf sheaths and stem bases; slow growth and yellowing. Apply alcohol on a cotton swab directly to colonies; follow up with diluted neem oil over the whole plant.
