What's eating my zantedeschia 'mango'?

Zantedeschia 'Mango' is a vivid orange-yellow calla lily grown in garden beds and containers. Aphids are the most common and persistent pest on its flower stems. Slugs damage foliage, especially in spring. Thrips mottle the attractive spathes. In containers, vine weevil grubs can devastate the corm if not controlled proactively.

Colonies on flower stems and young leaves; sticky honeydew, sooty mould, and possible virus transmission. Spray with insecticidal soap or diluted neem oil; attract ladybirds; avoid excess nitrogen feeding.

Holes in foliage and damage to young shoots at ground level after rain or irrigation. Apply iron phosphate pellets; hand-pick at dusk; use copper tape on container rims.

Pale silvery streaking on orange spathes, reducing the cultivar's ornamental impact. Remove affected spathes; spray spinosad or insecticidal soap; minimise weedy ground cover nearby.

Grubs tunnel into corms underground causing sudden wilt; most prevalent in container-grown plants. Drench containers with Steinernema kraussei nematodes in late summer; inspect corms when repotting.
