What's eating my sonerila heterostemon?

Sonerila heterostemon is a rare humidity-loving tropical grown under terrarium or warm greenhouse conditions. Like other Sonerila species, it is most susceptible to fungus gnats in its constantly moist growing medium and to mealybugs in leaf axils. Its need for high ambient humidity naturally deters spider mites.

Larvae feed on fine roots in the damp substrate, leading to wilting despite adequate watering. Use a Bti drench (e.g., Gnatrol); allow the top 1 cm of medium to dry between waterings; install yellow sticky traps.

Cottony white clusters in leaf joints and on stem undersides; sticky honeydew and slow, distorted growth. Dab colonies with a rubbing-alcohol-soaked cotton swab; spray with insecticidal soap or neem oil and repeat in 10 days.
