What's eating my sempervivum 'red lion'?

Sempervivum 'Red Lion' is a vigorous, cold-hardy rosette succulent. Its main pest threat is mealybugs tucked in the tight leaf joints, though vine weevil grubs can silently destroy the root system. Fungus gnats appear when watering is excessive. Strong drainage and inspection at repotting catch problems early.
