What's eating my scindapsus treubii moonlight?

Scindapsus treubii 'Moonlight' is a slow-growing tropical with silvery satin leaves. Spider mites and mealybugs are the main indoor threats, with mites being particularly problematic in dry conditions. Because the plant grows slowly, pest damage is costly and hard to replace. Inspect every 2 weeks, especially the leaf undersides and stem joints.

Pale stippling or a washed-out, dusty appearance on the silvery-green leaf surface; fine webbing under leaves; leaves may yellow and drop. Rinse the plant under lukewarm water. Apply neem oil or insecticidal soap to both sides of all leaves every 5–7 days for 3–4 weeks. Maintain indoor humidity above 50%.

White cottony clusters at node joints and the base of petioles; sticky honeydew on nearby surfaces; affected leaves yellow and growth slows. Dab colonies with 70% isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab. Follow with a neem oil or insecticidal soap spray every 7 days for at least 3 cycles. Isolate the plant.

Silver or brown streaking and scarring on leaf surfaces; frass visible on undersides; new leaves emerge with distorted or necrotic patches. Apply spinosad or insecticidal soap weekly for 4–6 weeks. Use yellow sticky traps to monitor adult thrips. Remove and dispose of heavily damaged leaves promptly.
