What's eating my sansevieria raffillii?

Sansevieria Raffillii is a large, striking species with broad, horizontally-banded leaves that is generally very resilient. Mealybugs are the most common indoor pest, sheltering in the broad leaf bases. Spider mites may appear in low-humidity rooms. Scale insects occasionally target the thick stems. Good cultural care prevents most outbreaks.

White waxy deposits at leaf bases and between tightly-arranged leaves; leaves yellow and sticky honeydew accumulates below. Remove with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab. Spray neem oil or insecticidal soap across all leaf surfaces and the base weekly for 4 weeks.

Faint yellow stippling on the broad banded leaves and delicate webbing on the undersides in dry indoor conditions. Wipe both sides of leaves with a damp cloth and apply insecticidal soap or neem oil spray. Repeat every 5–7 days.

Small raised brown or tan bumps on stems and along the leaf midrib; persistent sap-feeding causes yellowing and weakened growth. Scrape off visible scale with a soft toothbrush and apply horticultural oil. Re-check after 2 weeks and treat again if crawlers are present.
