What's eating my sansevieria pearsonii?

Sansevieria Pearsonii is a rare, cylindrical-leafed species from southern Africa that rarely suffers pest attacks when kept dry. Mealybugs are the most realistic indoor threat, hiding in the compact basal cluster. Spider mites can appear if the room is very hot and dry. Its near-succulent nature makes overwatering a bigger risk than pests.

White cottony fluff lodged between the cylindrical leaves at the base; sticky residue and slow yellowing of affected leaves. Treat with an alcohol-dipped cotton swab directly on the clusters. Spray all surfaces with diluted neem oil and repeat every 7 days for a month.

Fine yellowing or bronzing of the stiff cylindrical leaves and very faint webbing near the base in very dry conditions. Increase humidity, wipe leaves with a damp cloth and apply insecticidal soap or neem oil. Repeat every 5–7 days.

White powdery deposits on the rhizome and roots; gradual plant decline with no clear above-ground symptoms. Inspect roots at repotting time. Treat with a systemic insecticide drench and replant in fresh, gritty, well-draining mix.
