What's eating my roundleaf sundew?

Drosera rotundifolia is a native bog plant grown outdoors or in cool greenhouses. Aphids and spider mites are its main pest concerns. The tiny rosettes rarely attract slugs or large animals. Ants are noted scavengers of trapped prey but do not damage the plant directly.

Colonies on stems and flower scapes; sap loss weakens the plant and reduces the production of sticky mucilage on the leaf pads. Remove by hand or rinse with water. Apply a very dilute insecticidal soap only to stems; avoid coating the glandular leaf surfaces.

Pale stippling on small leaf pads; fine webbing visible in hot, dry spells; most problematic in enclosed or low-humidity settings. Increase humidity; place the pot in a partially open cold frame or terrarium. Wipe affected leaves gently and apply dilute insecticidal soap if needed.
