Pleione speciosa is a cool-growing terrestrial orchid suited to alpine houses and shaded outdoor spots. Like other Pleiones, slugs are the headline threat to its new pseudobulbs and shoots in spring. Vine weevil grubs attack the root zone in containers, and red spider mite can strike under glass in warm spells.
