What's eating my peperomia pseudovariegata?

Peperomia pseudovariegata is an uncommon tropical peperomia grown as a houseplant. Like most of the genus, its main pest threats indoors are mealybugs in the leaf axils and spider mites during dry spells. Soft scale can also appear on stems. Fungus gnats become an issue if soil is kept too wet. Overall risk remains low.

Cottony white clusters at leaf joints; sticky honeydew; distorted new growth. Dab infested spots with isopropyl alcohol; isolate the plant and repeat treatment weekly; use neem oil spray as a preventive.

Fine stippling and faint webbing on leaf undersides; leaves may curl or look washed out. Rinse foliage under lukewarm water; apply insecticidal soap every 5–7 days for three applications. Keep humidity above 50%.

Brown or tan bumps adhered to stems; honeydew and sooty mold follow. Scrape off scale with a soft toothbrush, then treat with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap; repeat after 10 days.
