What's eating my oxalis vulcanicola 'zinfandel'?

Oxalis vulcanicola 'Zinfandel' with its dark burgundy foliage attracts spider mites as its primary indoor pest, particularly in warm, dry air. Fungus gnats attack in overly moist soil, and aphids occasionally cluster on new growth. Outdoors in warm seasons, slugs may nibble the clover-like leaves at night.

Tiny pale stippling and a dusty, bronzed look on the burgundy leaves; fine silken webbing beneath leaves in severe infestations. Raise humidity, rinse foliage with water, then apply insecticidal soap or neem oil spray every 5–7 days for at least 3 weeks.

Small green or black insects massed on young, soft shoot tips; leaves curl inward and sticky honeydew attracts ants. Knock off with a water blast or remove by hand; follow up with insecticidal soap spray weekly until clear.

Adults seen on moist soil surface; larvae damage fine roots, causing yellowing and wilting despite adequate water. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings; drench with Bti solution and place sticky yellow traps for adults.
