What's eating my masdevallia tovarensis?

Masdevallia tovarensis, a white-flowered cool-growing orchid from Venezuela, is primarily attacked by spider mites in warm, dry rooms. Fungus gnats are common in moss-based media kept too wet, and scale insects occasionally shelter on pseudobulb-like stems. Good air circulation and cool, humid growing conditions form the best defence.
