What's eating my lucent scindapsus?

Lucent Scindapsus (Scindapsus lucens) is a rare tropical houseplant with glossy, lance-shaped leaves. Spider mites are the leading pest threat, as with all Scindapsus species. Mealybugs may also colonise stem nodes. Maintain humidity above 50%, wipe leaves regularly, and treat at the first sign of stippling or webbing.

Fine speckling and webbing on leaf undersides; glossy leaves lose their sheen; damage accelerates in dry conditions Increase humidity. Spray all leaf surfaces with diluted neem oil or insecticidal soap every 7 days for 3–4 weeks.

White fluffy masses at stem nodes and petiole bases; plant growth slows; leaves may yellow Remove visible mealybugs with an alcohol swab, then apply neem oil spray to the entire plant weekly until clear.

Adults fly around moist soil; larvae damage fine roots, causing unexpected wilting and stunted growth Allow soil to partially dry between waterings. Place yellow sticky traps; drench soil with Bti solution to eliminate larvae.
