What's eating my gray goldenrod?

Gray Goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis) is a lean, drought-adapted species and generally the most pest-tolerant of the goldenrods. Gall insects and aphids are still the most likely visitors. Its smaller stature and hairy stems deter some chewing insects. Deer and rabbits largely ignore it, especially once it is established.
