What's eating my geranium renardii 'phillipe vapelle'?

Geranium renardii 'Phillipe Vapelle', a lavender-violet selection of this compact species, shares the inherent toughness of renardii. Vine weevil in containers is the main concern, as larvae can kill plants undetected over winter. Slugs occasionally damage spring foliage but rarely cause lasting harm on the dense, textured leaves.

Larvae destroy the root system from below, causing the plant to collapse; adult beetles notch leaf margins with a distinctive scalloped pattern. Apply nematode drench (Steinernema kraussei) to containers and borders in late summer; repot in autumn to check for and remove grubs.
