What's eating my geranium endressii?

Geranium endressii is a resilient ground-cover perennial. Vine weevil attacking the roots is the most damaging hidden threat. Slugs and snails feed on foliage in damp conditions, and aphids colonise new growth in spring. Its spreading habit recovers well from moderate slug grazing. Nematode treatment prevents vine weevil build-up.

White grubs eat roots causing collapse; adults leave characteristic scalloped notches in leaf edges. Apply nematodes to moist soil in late summer; inspect roots during autumn division for grubs.

Ragged holes in leaves and flower stems; damage most severe on young spring growth. Ferric phosphate pellets, grit mulch, or hand-picking at night; good drainage reduces slug pressure.

Soft greenish or pinkish insects cluster on shoot tips, causing sticky residue and leaf curl. Blast off with water; spray insecticidal soap; tolerate low numbers as they rarely cause lasting harm.
