What's eating my four-leaf pinyon?

Four-Leaf Pinyon pine seeds are prized by pinyon jays, Clark's nutcrackers, and squirrels, which can strip a cone crop entirely. Bark beetles (especially Ips species) are the most lethal insect threat, attacking stressed trees. Pinyon needle scale and pine needle miner also occur on foliage.
