What's eating my tiger jaws?

Tiger Jaws attracts mealybugs between its tightly spaced toothed leaves and at the root zone. Spider mites can colonise in hot, dry indoor conditions. Scale insects occasionally attach to the leaf bases. The dense rosette and rough leaf margins make the plant a good refuge for pests — inspect the leaf bases at every watering.

Cottony white clusters tucked between leaves or at the base; plant looks drained and may yellow. Dab each pest with a 70% isopropyl alcohol swab; repeat weekly. Isolate the plant from other succulents.

Pale stippling on leaf surfaces; fine webbing visible when infestation is heavy, worse in dry heated rooms. Spray with neem oil or insecticidal soap, ensuring coverage in leaf crevices. Improve airflow and avoid over-hot windowsills.

Flat brown or tan discs stuck to leaf margins or stems; leaves turn yellow where feeding occurs. Scrape off with a soft toothbrush, then wipe with alcohol-soaked cotton. Treat surrounding plants as a precaution.
