What's eating my euphorbia gorgonis?

Euphorbia gorgonis, a dwarf South African succulent Euphorbia, is most threatened indoors by mealybugs sheltering in its segmented ribs. Spider mites and root mealybugs also attack stressed plants. The toxic latex provides some natural defence against chewing insects, but sap-suckers readily pierce the epidermis.

White cottony tufts lodged in the grooves between ribs; sticky honeydew and slow growth. Dab individual colonies with a cotton swab dipped in 70% isopropyl alcohol; apply neem oil or insecticidal soap spray; repeat weekly for a month.

Fine speckling and pale stippling on the body surface; barely visible webbing under dry conditions. Increase humidity around the plant, rinse with water, then treat with a miticide or neem oil spray; isolate the plant.

Unexplained wilting and decline despite adequate watering; white waxy coating visible on roots when repotted. Unpot, rinse roots, soak briefly in a dilute insecticidal soap solution, repot in fresh dry mix, and drench with imidacloprid.
