What's eating my clematis 'nelly moser'?

Clematis 'Nelly Moser' is most threatened by clematis wilt, but also attracts aphids, earwigs, and slugs. Aphids cluster on young shoots; slugs and snails rasp new growth at ground level. Earwigs chew petals and leaves at night. Vigilance in spring when growth is soft is essential.
