What's eating my cephalotus follicularis 'eden black'?

Cephalotus follicularis 'Eden Black' is a rare Australian pitcher plant grown as a challenging houseplant. Its pitchers trap insects, but the plant itself is vulnerable to fungus gnats in its sandy peaty substrate and to mealybugs at the crown. Scale insects occasionally colonise the rhizome. Any pest stress on this slow-growing species can set it back significantly.
