What's eating my anthurium andraeanum 'roxane'?

Anthurium andraeanum 'Roxane' is a tropical houseplant susceptible to spider mites, mealybugs, thrips, and scale. Low indoor humidity is the main trigger for mite outbreaks. Check the spathe bases and leaf undersides regularly — catching these pests early is much easier than dealing with a full infestation later.

Tiny pale dots (stippling) on leaves; webbing under leaves; leaves dull and drop prematurely. Raise humidity, rinse leaves under a shower, and apply neem oil or insecticidal soap every 7 days until gone.

Fluffy white wax at leaf axils and spathe bases; honeydew drips and sooty black mold follow. Swab with 70% isopropyl alcohol, then spray entire plant with diluted neem oil; repeat every 5–7 days.

Silver or bronze streaks on spathes and foliage; new leaves are crinkled or stunted. Isolate the plant, remove worst leaves, and spray with spinosad or neem oil; sticky traps help monitor progress.

Brown dome-shaped bumps fixed to stems and leaf veins; plant weakens and leaves yellow. Scrape off manually, treat with horticultural oil or diluted alcohol; repeat until all shells are gone.
