What's eating my angelina stonecrop?

Angelina Stonecrop is targeted mainly by aphids and vine weevils outdoors, plus slugs and snails in cool damp conditions. Deer and rabbits generally avoid it due to the succulent texture. Aphids are the most frequent pest, clustering on new growth in spring and causing distorted yellow shoots.

Clusters of soft insects on new shoot tips cause curled, yellowed foliage and sticky honeydew. Blast off with a strong jet of water or apply insecticidal soap; ladybird larvae give good biological control.

C-shaped white grubs eat roots unseen, causing sudden wilt and plant collapse; notched leaf margins indicate adult feeding at night. Apply nematodes (Steinernema kraussei) to moist soil in late summer; use vine weevil biological control granules in containers.

Irregular gouges and slime trails on fleshy stems, especially after rain or overhead watering. Apply iron phosphate pellets around plants; place copper tape on containers; hand-pick at night.
