What's eating my amydrium hainanense?

Amydrium hainanense is a rare South and Southeast Asian climbing aroid with large fenestrated leaves. Kept as a houseplant, its main threats are spider mites (especially in dry air), mealybugs at stem joints, and scale on the climbing stem. Its large leaf surface makes pest spotting easier than on compact aroids.

Yellow stippling across large leaf surfaces and webbing on undersides; leaves may become bronzed in heavy infestations. Shower thoroughly, keep humidity above 60%, and apply neem oil or a miticide; treat undersides and along fenestration edges.

White wax at stem nodes, petiole sheaths, and in the angles where leaves join the stem. Dab with alcohol swab then spray with diluted neem oil or insecticidal soap; isolate immediately and check weekly.

Brownish bumps adhering to the climbing stem; slow growth and yellowing if infestation is heavy. Manually remove and treat with horticultural oil or neem; ensure the moss pole or support is also inspected and treated.
