What's eating my aglaonema 'siam aurora' (red chinese evergreen)?

Aglaonema 'Siam Aurora' is most often attacked indoors by spider mites and mealybugs. Both exploit the plant's thick, glossy leaves. Mealybugs hide in leaf axils; mites thrive in dry air. Inspect the undersides of leaves and base leaf joints regularly, especially in winter when indoor humidity drops.

White cottony clusters in leaf axils, along stems, and where leaves meet the stalk; sticky honeydew residue and eventual yellowing. Dab individual colonies with a cotton swab dipped in 70% isopropyl alcohol. For larger infestations, spray with insecticidal soap or neem oil every 7 days for 3 weeks. Isolate the plant immediately.

Fine webbing on leaf undersides and between stems; leaves develop pale, stippled or bronzed speckling and may curl. Raise humidity and rinse leaves under lukewarm water. Apply neem oil or a miticide spray to both leaf surfaces every 5–7 days until clear. Keep humidity above 50%.

Brown or tan dome-shaped bumps on stems and leaf midribs; sticky honeydew leads to sooty mold on leaf surfaces. Scrape off visible scales with a soft toothbrush. Treat with 70% alcohol on a swab, then follow with neem oil or horticultural oil sprays weekly for 3–4 weeks.
