What's eating my aglaonema harlequin?

Aglaonema 'Harlequin', with bold yellow and green patterning, is an indoor houseplant susceptible to spider mites and mealybugs. Feeding damage is highly visible on its variegated leaves. Because spider mites multiply fast in warm, dry rooms, acting at the first sign of stippling — rather than waiting — is critical for this cultivar.

Pale stippling most visible on yellow leaf sections; webbing on undersides; rapid spread in low-humidity rooms. Rinse with water, raise humidity, and apply neem oil or insecticidal soap spray weekly until the infestation is gone.

White cottony tufts in leaf axils and along stems; honeydew drip and sooty mould on lower leaves. Remove colonies with alcohol-dipped swab and treat the whole plant with neem oil spray every week for a month.

Brown waxy shells on petioles and stems; gradual yellowing and loss of leaf lustre. Scrape off manually and apply horticultural oil spray; repeat every 10–14 days for full control.
