What's eating my achimenes 'peach blossom'?

Achimenes 'Peach Blossom' shares the same pest vulnerabilities as other Achimenes cultivars. Aphids are the primary growing-season threat on its soft stems and buds. Spider mites can establish quickly in dry indoor air. Thrips are occasionally a problem during the flowering period. Plants go dormant in winter, so pest pressure is seasonal.

Masses of soft-bodied insects on new growth and flower buds; distorted shoots; sticky deposits on foliage below the colonies; can spread rapidly to neighbouring plants. Wash off with water or remove by hand. Treat with insecticidal soap spray every 5–7 days. Introduce Aphidius colemani parasitic wasps for biological control if aphids keep returning.
