Annually. Wood Melic (Melica uniflora) is a low-maintenance woodland grass that needs little pruning. Cut it back to near ground level once a year in late winter or early spring to clear tired foliage and encourage fresh growth. Beyond that annual tidy, simply remove any dead or yellowed leaves as they appear.
