How to prune veterans' honor rose

Late winter to early spring; deadhead continuously during the growing season. Remove dead and crossing canes entirely, then cut remaining healthy canes to 18–24 inches, making angled cuts above outward-facing buds. Deadhead back to the first 5-leaflet leaf to stimulate reblooming.

Annually (hard prune); deadhead every 1–2 weeks. Veterans' Honor Rose is a tall, upright hybrid tea that benefits from annual hard pruning to prevent legginess and keep its deep crimson flowers large and well-formed. Prune to 18–24 inches in late winter, and deadhead spent blooms throughout summer to encourage successive flushes.
