After flowering, once pups reach one-third the size of the mother plant. Trim individual dead or damaged leaves at the base with sterile scissors. Remove the fully spent mother rosette by cutting it away at soil level, taking care not to damage surrounding pups.

As needed. Two-Ranked Aechmea requires little pruning. The mother rosette blooms once then gradually dies. Remove yellowing or damaged leaves as they appear using clean scissors or a blade cut close to the base. Once pups (offsets) have grown to roughly one-third the size of the mother, remove the spent rosette cleanly.
