How to prune trazel

Trazel (Corylus × colurnoides, a hazel–Turkish hazel hybrid) is pruned similarly to hazel but grows more tree-like. Establish a clear trunk or multi-stem framework in early years. Remove suckers, dead wood, and crossing branches annually. Avoid hard coppicing — unlike pure hazel, trazel develops a more permanent scaffold.
