How to prune the bride pearlbush

Immediately after flowering (typically late spring, May–June). Cut out one or two of the oldest, most congested stems at ground level each year using loppers. Shorten any remaining stems that have flowered by up to one-third, cutting to a strong outward-facing bud or sideshoot.

Annually after flowering. The Bride pearlbush blooms in spring on wood grown the previous year, so prune immediately after flowering — not in autumn or winter, or you will cut off next year's buds. Remove one-quarter to one-third of the oldest stems at the base each year to maintain vigour and a good flower display.
