Pruning spider plant — FAQ
When should I prune spider plant?
Any time of year. Trim brown leaf tips with clean scissors, cutting straight across or at a slight angle. To remove a runner, cut the stolon close to the mother plant. Remove yellowed or dead leaves by pulling gently or cutting at the base.
How often does spider plant need pruning?
As needed. Spider plants need very little pruning. Remove brown leaf tips with scissors to improve appearance, and snip off the long stolons (runners) carrying baby plantlets if the plant feels overcrowded or you don't want propagation. Otherwise, simply tidy up dead or damaged leaves at the base. No regular pruning schedule is required.
