How often does scarlet kale need pruning?
Every 1–2 weeks through autumn and winter. Scarlet kale is managed by progressive outer-leaf harvest just like other curly kales. Strip the lowest leaves as they mature, leaving the upper growing point to continue producing. The plant can remain productive through multiple frosts. Edible flower shoots appear in spring — harvest them before the flowers fully open to prolong leafy production and use as a brassica green.
