How often does salsify need pruning?
As needed. Salsify (oyster plant) is grown for its long taproot and needs no pruning. Leave the grassy foliage intact throughout the season to feed root development. Remove dead or yellowed leaves as they appear. Flower stalks can be pinched off if you want to maximise root size, though salsify is biennial and blooms in its second year.
