How to prune queen of night tulip

Deadhead as flowers fade in late spring; clear foliage once fully yellow. Snap or cut the spent flower head just below the capsule. Leave the full stem upright alongside the leaves. Only remove the foliage once it is completely yellow and dry — premature tidying compromises next season's display.

Once per season; deadhead only. Queen of Night is a late-season Darwin hybrid tulip that needs only deadheading to maintain bulb vigour. Remove the spent flower once petals drop, then leave all stems and dark foliage to die back completely and naturally — about 6 weeks. Cutting back early significantly weakens bulbs for the following year.
