Rarely — once per season. Pretty Crocus (Crocus pulchellus) needs virtually no pruning. This autumn-flowering species sends up blooms before its leaves appear — similar to Crocus speciosus. Allow spring foliage to die back naturally and only remove it once fully yellowed in late spring. The leaves are essential for corm recovery. No deadheading is necessary in normal garden use.
