After each bloom cycle; dead canes as needed. Phalaenopsis-type dendrobium (Dendrobium bigibbum) needs minimal pruning. Remove spent flower spikes at the base once all blooms have fallen. Cut out any dead or shrivelled canes at the base. Unlike nobile types, this species does not produce keikis as readily, so retain all healthy green canes. No other routine pruning is required.
